Leading linguist Ilze Berzina and 2 ROOSTERS
ILZE BERZINA, Latvian translator
Ilze Berzina is a native Latvian, her family language is American English. 2 ROOSTERS is a daughter company of DODAM, both owned by Ilze Berzina.
2 ROOSTERS is a new project that has been created as a result of a long ongoing relationship between a Latvian translator and an American scientist. That Latvian translator met the scientist during her translation assignment in 1999 when she was asked to translate documents about a country farm in which 'the roosters' name first showed up. The relationship that started as formal business turned into long and sincere friendship and the most unique love story. 2 ROOSTERS is a company with a more narrow specialization than DODAM, but offering more language combinations with English is the main working language.
Two roosters able to live under the same roof is a symbol of compromises and diplomacy skill. Cohabitation of people coming from two different cultures is not simple. Often two neighbouring countries get along. Cross-culture and cross-country civil matters, especially family law, contract law and property law therefore have become Ilze's professional interest and the specialization of 2 ROOSTERS. Ilze and her team has cooperated with several regional police departments in Latvia in order ensure that EU citizens understand interrogation and their rights during pre-trial investigation and in administrative courts. Ilze has also cooperated with UK law offices on several child abduction matters.

2 ROOSTERS
• Specialization is cross-country civil matters, especially family law: engagement, marriage, visa forms and documents, pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, separation, divorce, custody of children, maintenance of children, spousal support, visitation rights. She regularly translates and proofreads contents on property settlements, property division, wills and other documents on inheriting.
• The goal is to ensure that legal translations performed in the most correct way: there is always the question whether it is more important to ensure almost literal translation (might be important for investigations) or to secure the target reader understands the translation through their legal/cultural concepts which means interpretation and risks related with it.
• Very close, personal communication with clients is important in order to ensure understanding their needs and carrying out translation projects. Confidentiality is always a top priority. Once the need is adentified, personally verified, trusted legal translators perform the translation. we have just the right price for the quality of certified translations.
